
The Family Code governs family relations, including marriage, divorce and judicial divorce, custody, maintenance, and inheritance. It is based on the principles of equality, shared responsibility between spouses, and protection of children’s rights, and draws its reference from Islamic Sharia while taking into account legal and social developments.
The attorney undertakes representation and defense before the family court divisions in accordance with the Code of Civil Procedure and the law governing the legal profession, in matters of marriage and marriage authorization, dissolution of the marital bond in all its forms, custody, maintenance, legal guardianship, estate liquidation, and inheritance distribution. The attorney is also competent to provide legal consultations, participate in conciliation procedures provided for in the Family Code, draft related contracts and agreements, and initiate enforcement proceedings.
